The Brazilian Grand Prix will feature a single drag-reduction zone, with the governing body opting to end the run of double zones featured in the previous few races.
The detection point will be just before turn two, before activation just after turn three for the fairly short run to four which is a wide sweeping bend with more than one racing line, therefore giving the best chance to overtake.
Interlagos is renowned for exciting races with overtaking into turn one quite abundant, which is the reason the FIA have opted against a second zone along the main straight.
“There will be one DRS zone on the back straight. We think this will be enough, as the main straight usually gives a good enough opportunity to overtake anyway, so we don’t want to make it too easy,” said the FIA’s Charlie Whiting.
