Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen will start the 8 Hours of Bahrain from pole position after one of their lap times in qualifying was reinstated after the session.

Estre and Christensen had originally qualified second behind the #95 Aston Martin Vantage AMR of Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen.

However, an originally deleted lap time for Estre was reinstated by the stewards after the Friday session had been concluded.

As a result, the average time for the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 was changed to 01:56:505. This was 0.016s faster than the 01:56:521 average set by Thiim and Sorensen.

As a result, Estre and Christensen will be starting their race from pole position for the second time since the season restarted with the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in August.

The 2018/19 world champions started that race from pole position as well and ended up taking the class victory.

The French-Danish pairing is no longer in contention for the world title going into the final race of the season this afternoon. The battle for the GTE Pro driver’s title will be between Sorensen and Thiim, their team-mate Maxime Martin and AF Corse’s James Calado.
