Le Mans – Hour 16: Issues for United Autosports and Aston Martin

Two front running contenders in LMP2 and GTE Am have suffered mechanical issues in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with eight hours of racing remaning.

The #32 United Autosports ORECA 07-Gibson, which held the LMP2 class lead for a considerable time, was wheeled into the garage with an oil leak.

At the same time, the #98 Aston Martin Vantage AMR, running up front in GTE Am, suffered a suspension issue.

The overall lead of the race is still held by the #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid after the #7 Toyota suffered turbo issues just after the halfway mark, with the #1 Rebellion R13-Gibson in second place. The #7 Toyota remains out on track in fourth place, six laps down.

The #22 United Autosports ORECA, which had been battling its sister car before the oil leak, is now leading in LMP2.

The #71 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo has regained the lead in GTE Pro, but the two Aston Martins are still closely behind in second and third.

TF Sport has picked up the lead in GTE Am after the misfortunes for the factory squad.

Two additional cars have been retired from the cars. The #63 Weathertech Racing Ferrari was retired after a clash with the #29 Racing Team Nederland ORECA, whlle the #21 Dragonspeed ORECA was withdrawn with an engine issue
