The 24 Hours of Le Mans is nearing the halfway mark and is down one major contender in LMP2 after the leading G-Drive Aurus suffered mechanical issues.

Roman Rusinov was running in the podium positions in the #26 Aurus 01-Gibson until the car suffered a failure after a pitstop. Rusinov was able to make it to the pits after stopping on track several times. The Russian was able to make it to the pits, but has dropped out of contention for the victory for the time being.

Job van Uitert now leads LMP2 in the #32 United Autosports ORECA 07-Gibson ahead of Antonio Felix da Costa in the #38 JOTA ORECA, with the second United Autosports ORECA third in the hands of Phil Hanson.

Reigning LMP2 champions Signatech Alpine also had trouble as Thomas Laurent spun the #36 Alpine A470-Gibson at Porsche curves but was able to continue.
