Le Mans – Hour 3: Toyota leads one-two, Aston Martin recaptures GTE Pro
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Toyota Gazoo Racing continues to lead the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a comfortable one-two after three hours, while Aston Martin regained the lead in GTE Pro.

Kamui Kobayashi leads in the #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid, with Brendon Hartley second in the #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid. Gustavo Menezes has taken over the #1 Rebellion R13-Gibson and continues to hold third place ahead Romain Dumas’ #3 Rebellion.

Oliver James Webb brought the #4 ByKolles ENSO CLM P1/01-Gibson into the pits with an alternator issue, costing the team several laps.

LMP2 continues to be the most competitive class. Antonio Felix da Costa currently leads just before the pit stop cycle in the #38 ORECA 07-Gibson ahead of the #22 United Autosports ORECA 07-Gibson in the hands of Job van Uitert.

James Allen has handed the #39 Graff ORECA 07-Gibson over to Vincent Capillaire, who currently sits third in the class.

In GTE Pro, Maxime Martin has retaken the lead in GTE Pro in the #97 Aston Martin Vantage AMR by moving past the #71 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo of Miguel Molina. Molina has since handed over to Sam Bird. Bird now sits in third, with the sister #51 Ferrari of Alessandro Pier Guidi second.

Marco Sorensen holds fourth in the #95 Aston Martin, ahead of the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 in the hands of Michael Christensen to round out the top five.

The British marque has, however, lost the lead in GTE Am. Paul Dalla Lana had been leading in the #98 Aston Martin Vantage AMR but the Canadian had an off at the Porsche Curves. There were no further problems, but it dropped the Aston Martin down to third.

Larry ten Voorde now leads in the #56 Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR ahead of Salih Yoluc in the #90 TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage AMR ahead of Dalla Lana, who previously found himself under pressure from the #75 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE Evo of Matteo Cressoni.

The #88 Porsche 911 RSR, which crashed in the first hour in the hands of Thomas Preining and was initially presumed to be retired, has returned to the track after nearly two hours.
