With two hours remaining in the TireRack.com Grand Prix at Road Atlanta, Mazda Motorsports has moved into the lead of the race ahead of Acura Team Penske.

Wayne Taylor Racing looked in command throughout the first half of the race until a puncture put the #10 Cadillac DPi-VR on an alternate strategy and dropped it out of the lead.

This promoted the #6 Acura ARX-05 of Juan Pablo Montoya before Cameron took over at the start of the fourth hour. Cameron then came under increased pressure from both the #77 Mazda RT24-P of Olivier Pla and the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR of Filipe Albuquerque.

The lead then changed hands during a pitstop cycle when Pla handed over to Nunez, who managed to get out ahead of Cameron on the overcut and captured the lead, with Cameron second ahead of Pipo Derani, who took over from Albuquerque.
