Nick Heidfeld and his manager, Andre Theuerzeit, have launched legal action against the Renault team in a bid to get the German back in the car for the Singapore GP.

The Enstone based outfit announced on Wednesday that Bruno Senna would replace Heidfeld for the Belgian and Italian race weekends, but admitted legal action meant they couldn’t confirm whether or not the Brazilian would race for them for the remainder of the current season.

The case will go to the London High Court and is expected to be heard on September 19th, a week prior to the 2011 night race.

The 34-year-olds manager is confident of a positive outcome.

“I am disappointed that the team is allowed to let another driver take Nick’s seat for the next weekends,” Theuerzeit said in a statement. “However, I certainly am confident that we will be able to enforce a fair solution for Nick in the further proceedings.

“We all hope that Nick will be back in the cockpit in Singapore.”

Heidfeld on the otherhand said he regretted how things had panned out, but was adamant his contract with the team states he must be a “main driver”.

“The main hearing will be in about three weeks and we will have a decision then,” Heidfeld told Reuters. “I was surprised by the team’s intention to replace me and regret that things have developed this way.

“I just wanted to be in the cockpit to get the best result for the team and me. I have a contract with them as a main driver and that’s why I am here,” he added.
