Sergio Jimenez took his third victory of the season in the fifth round of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, emerging at the top of a strategic 25-minute + 1 lap affair in Berlin.

The reigning champion of the Formula E support series started the race from second on the grid after team-mate Caca Bueno took pole position and on the opening lap, maintained this place despite facing pressure from behind.

With Bueno out in the front, the opening phase of the race was slow, however, by taking Attack Mode with nine-minutes of racing remaining, Jimenez rolled what was a dice formed of strategy.

Arming and activating the power boost device, Jimenez dropped to fourth in the order but soon cleared emerging on-track rival Nick Foster and championship contender Simon Evans to re-take second within a matter of minutes.

This on-track battle cost the Brazilian some time and after establishing a firm advantage, Bueno opted to deploy his first use of Attack Mode, only to miss the activation loops and drop to third, with Jimenez now inheriting the lead.

The polesitter armed the boost the following lap while Evans soon followed suit, dropping to third before re-passing Bueno for second and taking the lead when Jimenez also ran through the Attack Zone.

Facing a power deficit after his Attack Mode expired, Evans fell into Jimenez’s grips in the dying laps, with the championship leader overtaking for the win.

This result marked Jimenez’s sixth win in the series to date while Evans took the runner-up spot. Bueno took third.

After showing promising pace early on, Foster faded and completed the top five when VIP driver Oliver Webb cleared the Australian for fourth place.

Gregory Segers was sixth while Alice Powell experienced a difficult race to take seventh overall. She was followed by Fahad Algosaibi who again won in Pro-Am, with Takuma Aoki, Paul Spooner and Adalberto Baptista completing the field.
