Williams Formula 1 reserve driver Jack Aitken is set to make his grand prix weekend debut in Austria on Friday.
The 24-year-old is slated to replace George Russell for the opening 90-minute practice session at the Styrian Grand Prix.
Aitken joined Williams for 2020 as reserve driver after four years with Renault.
Aitken participated in in-season testing for Renault in 2018 and 2019 as he accumulated Formula 1 experience.
“Jack has been working hard with the engineers in Grove and we are looking forward to working with him at the track as we continue with our intensive test programme,” said Williams’ Head of Vehicle Performance Dave Robson.
Aitken finished runner-up to Russell in the 2017 GP3 Series and has since competed in Formula 2, classifying fifth in last year’s championship.
He has remained with Campos for the 2020 season.
Williams also has Aitken’s Formula 2 rivals Dan Ticktum and Roy Nissany on its books, along with reigning W Series champion Jamie Chadwick.
