14-race calendar revealed for Formula E’s World Championship year

Following today’s World Motor Sport Council meeting, the FIA has published the provisional race calendar for Formula E’s seventh season of competition which will feature 14 races in 12 cities.

In a landmark season for the series in which it gains World Championship status, the 2020/21 campaign will commence on January 16 in Santiago and will conclude on the weekend of July 24/25 with a double-header finale in London.

Following its season-opener at the Parque O’Higgins Circuit, the series will visit the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez before holding a double-header event in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, next heading further east for the Sanya E-Prix.

The Rome E-Prix on April 10 marks the start of the European leg of Season 7 while a visit to Paris follows on April 24.

Continuing to hold a Formula E event on a bi-annual basis, the Monaco E-Prix returns in 2021 for the fourth time on May 8 while Formula E will race in South Korea for the first time two weeks later in Seoul.

A venue pending confirmation will mark the 10th round of the competition and this will be followed by a sole race in Berlin – the city continuing to be the only venue to have hosted a race in every season of Formula E.

July 10’s New York City race marks the penultimate weekend of competition ahead of the London finale.

As part of cost-saving measures as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Formula E’s Gen2 EVO facelift – originally scheduled for Season 7 – has been delayed until the 2021/22 campaign.

Formula E’s current season will conclude this coming August with six races in nine days at the Tempelhof Circuit in Berlin where the series’ next champion will be crowned.
