ByKolles takes Virtual Le Mans pole as Porsche dominates GTE qualifying

ByKolles Burst Esports will start the inaugural 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual pole position after simracer Jernej Simonic took pole position in LMP2, while Porsche dominated proceedings in GTE.

Simoncic set the quickest time in a session during most teams opted to put their simracers behind the wheel. The Slovenian managed a time of 03:23:380, which was enough to beat E-Team WRT’s Arne Schoonvliet to pole position by 0.223s. Simoncic will be sharing the #4 ORECA 07-Gibson with Tom Dillmann, Esteban Guerrieri and Jesper Pederson.

2 Seas Motorsport will start third courtesy of Devin Braune, while Jack Keithley put the #3 Rebellion Williams Esports ORECA fourth.Atze Kerkhof qualified fifth for Team Redline, the team that also features F1 stars Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.

Stoffel Vandoorne was the quickest real-world racer, putting out a 03:23:973 behind the wheel of the #16 Veloce ORECA.

In GTE, Porsche was the dominant force, with Josh Rodgers taking pole position in the #93 Porsche 911 RSR with a time of 03:46:550, driving the car he shares with Nick Tandy, Ayhancan Güven and Tommy Ostgaard.

Rodgers locked out the front row for the German manufacturer together with team-mate Mitchell Dejong, who was six-tenths further back in the #91 Porsche. Dempsey-Proton Racing took third place courtesy of Kevin van Dooren in the #88 Porsche 911 RSR, while Porsche’s junior driver Jeremy Bouteloup qualified fourth in the #92.

Lasse Sorensen was the best non-Porsche qualifier in the #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE, taking fifth place ahead of the fourth factory Porsche of David Williams.
