Hispania team principal Colin Kolles says he isn’t ruling out a protest against the majority of teams in Spain, following the revelation that blown-diffusers are illegal.
Charlie Whiting, the governing bodies technical delegate, informed all the teams prior to practice on Friday, that a protest against blown-diffusers couldn’t be ruled out.
“It’s always a possibility, and I’ve made that clear to the teams that it could happen,” he said. “I’d like to think that [it] probably wouldn’t happen, but one never knows.
“It’s not beyond the realms of possibility. A protest is open to anybody. It would go before the stewards.”
Kolles firmly believes that ‘some’ cars are running against the regulations – many believe his own outfit, Virgin and possibly Williams to be the only ones not running blown-diffusers.
“I think some teams are running illegally, simple as that,” he told Reuters.
When asked if he might protest after the race, he replied: “Maybe, I don’t know. I will see.”
Virgin, one of the teams not running the alleged illegal system, has pretty much ruled out such a protest, saying it was “highly unlikely.”
