Antonio Felix da Costa recorded his first victory of Season 6 at the Marrakesh E-Prix with a controlled drive for DS Techeetah.

The Portuguese racer started the fifth race of the 2019/20 campaign from pole position and secured the optimum getaway from the front row of the grid, leading into Turn 1.

Maintaining a consistant advantage at the front of the field, carefully managing his energy usage, da Costa remained in control throughout, briefly dropping to second when passed by Maximilian Gunther with 23-minutes + 1 lap of racing remaining.

Saving energy behind the BMW i Andretti Motorsport driver, da Costa re-passed the 22-year-old with 17-minutes left on the clock, extending his advantage to comfortably win.

Entering in a late-race scrap with Jean-Eric Vergne who had fought forward to second after an impressive drive, Gunther passed the reigning champion on the final lap, taking his second Formula E podium while Vergne completed a double podium for his Franco-Chinese DS Techeetah squad.

Unable to pass Vergne who was struggling for energy, Sebastien Buemi took fourth for Nissan e.dams while Edoardo Mortara completed the top five for ROKiT Venturi Racing.

Fighting from last on the grid, Jaguar’s Mitch Evans took sixth while Lucas di Grassi took seventh for Audi. Andre Lotterer dropped from third on the grid to take eighth.

Oliver Rowland completed a double points finish for Nissan e.dams while Sam Bird completed the top 10.
