DragonSpeed yet to take delivery of Aeroscreen

DragonSpeed has yet to take delivery of a final version of the Aeroscreen despite the 2020 IndyCar season being a little over two weeks away.

The team confirmed via Twitter that its chassis has been prepared to mount the new safety device for nearly two months, but it has not received one yet and preparations have already been negatively affected.

DragonSpeed is an independent team and is not directly partnered with any of the larger teams, lessening the chances it can borrow an Aeroscreen on short notice. If it manages to secure one soon, the team plans to hold a test session next week at Sebring.

Ben Hanley, who has been busy driving for the the team’s endurance outings this season, is still slated to be behind the wheel for at least the opening round of the season.

DragonSpeed made its name known in endurance and sportscar racing, with a racing debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2011.  The team has been consistently expanding its operations since then and in 2018 began competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Last year the team entered three races in its debut IndyCar season and has expanded its schedule this season up to six races, including the season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida.

MotorSportWeek has reached out to DragonSpeed for additional comment.

The first race of the 2020 NTT IndyCar season is the weekend of March 13-15 on the streets of St. Petersburg.
