Nasr and Sette Camara join Carlin for IndyCar testing

Ex-F1 racer Felipe Nasr and former McLaren development driver Sergio Sette Camara have joined Carlin for this week’s IndyCar test.

Carlin has announced that Max Chilton will return to pilot the No. 59 car on road/street courses and the Indianapolis 500, but has yet to determine the line-up for the No. 31 car.

IndyCar has gathered at Texas’ Circuit of the Americas for a two-day test and Carlin has revealed that Nasr and Sette Camara will share driving duties.

Nasr raced in Formula 1 for Sauber across 2015/16 and has since established himself Stateside, competing in IMSA, taking a trio of victories and the 2018 title.

Nasr last year linked up with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports for a test day at Mid-Ohio.

Sette Camara, meanwhile, has spent the last three seasons competing in Formula 2, alongside junior roles at Red Bull and McLaren, which led to a brief appearance in Formula 1 machinery.

But Sette Camara’s prospects receded when McLaren and Brazilian oil giants Petrobras terminated their partnership towards the end of 2019.

Sette Camara, fourth in last year’s Formula 2 standings, had been tipped to join new-for-2020 team Hitech, but the outfit has recruited Luca Ghiotto to partner Nikita Mazepin.

Both Nasr and Sette Camara have previous experience with Carlin.

Nasr won the 2011 British F3 title with the outfit and went on to race for the squad in the Formula 3 Euroseries and GP2.

Sette Camara spent 2018 with Carlin in Formula 2.
