The Japanese Grand Prix will remain at the Honda owned Suzuka circuit until 2012 according to a Japanese news agency.
The current race contract had been set to expire at the end of the 2011 season and it had been rumoured that 2011 would be the last race at the track, as it is coming under increasing pressure from newer circuits which receive government subsidies.
The country’s involvement in F1 has dropped in recent years with the withdrawal of Honda and Toyota as well as former tyre supplier, Bridgestone.
The circuit will host the 15th round of the Formula One championship on October 9th, following the cancellation of Bahrain.
