Team Penske is shuffling the crew chiefs among its three NASCAR Cup Series teams — the #2 Ford team of Brad Keselowski, the #12 of Ryan Blaney and the #22 of Joey Logano.
Paul Wolfe is moving from the #2 to the #22, while Todd Gordon moves from the #22 to the #12. Jeremy Bullins is moving from the #12 to replace Wolfe on the #2 team.
“As we do after the completion of each season, we evaluated what we can do to better achieve our goals, and we felt it was time to make these changes to better position us to reach our potential,” team owner Roger Penske said. “We are fortunate that we have three very strong leaders in Paul (Wolfe), Todd (Gordon) and Jeremy (Bullins), who work with experienced and talented crews. Pairing each of these winning teams with different drivers and cars should provide new energy and a fresh approach for the 2020 season.”
All three crew chiefs have been with Penske their entire Cup Series careers. Wolfe has been paired only with Keselowski, to this point, and Bullins only with Blaney, so far, in the Cup Series. Bullins has been Logano’s crew chief since Logano joined Team Penske ahead of the 2013 season. Bullins was crew chief for A.J. Allmendinger and Sam Hornish Jr., both on the #12 team, in 2012.
All three of Penske’s driver/crew chief pairings won races and made the playoffs in 2019. Keselowski won a team-leading three races last season but was eliminated from the playoffs in the round of 12. Logano and Blaney made the round of eight, and Logano won two races in 2019 to Blaney’s one.
The Keselowski/Wolfe pairing led to a Cup Series championship in 2012, and Gordon led Logano to the 2018 series title. Bullins was crew chief for two-consecutive NASCAR Xfinity Series owners’ championships in 2013 and 2014.
