IndyCar reveals full 2027 schedule, with Spain replacing Nashville

The NTT IndyCar Series has revealed the second half of its 2027 racing schedule, and the 17-event schedule includes a couple major changes from last season.

The biggest change is the addition of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, for the series’ first overseas event in over a decade.

That event in Spain will take place on July 18, and will have an off week on either side to facilitate travel to and from the country.

Another interesting change is the loss of Nashville Superspeedway.

The Music City Grand Prix was initially a street course run in downtown Nashville in 2021, then was switched to the nearby oval track when stadium construction began at the downtown location.

Despite being a popular event at both venues, the track has now been dropped from the schedule entirely. The move is likely in part a logistical one, in order to accommodate an international race in Spain on the same date in mid-July.

The Freedom 250, a special race in Washington D.C. to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary this past year, has also been confirmed to be a one-off event.

There are no races featured in the nation’s capital for 2027, and indeed none in that area of the country.

The first portion of the schedule was revealed two months ago, showcasing a nearly unchanged first few months of the season.

IndyCar will still begin the season in St. Petersburg on the first weekend of March, and will again join NASCAR at Phoenix Raceway on March 13.

The season finale returns to Laguna Seca, and wraps up in early September in order to conclude before the popular NFL season, which takes viewership away from IndyCar, begins shortly after.
