Breaking: Colton Herta withdraws from F2 Sprint Race in Madrid

Colton Herta has announced that he will not be taking part in the Formula 2 Sprint Race around Madrid.

The weekend didn’t get off to a great start for the ex-IndyCar driver, who suffered a significant crash in the qualifying session, which left him starting from the back of the Sprint Race.

This was due to Hitech having to work on the car to prepare it for the Sprint Race beyond the Restricted Period without an approved exception. However, the car was ready to take part in the session.

Yet Hitech released a statement this morning saying Herta will not take part in the session due to illness on the American’s side. It is unclear whether this will affect his participation in the Feature Race.
