The first race of IndyCar’s double-header Milwaukee weekend is still paused on account of rain, but the second race went ahead as scheduled midday Sunday.
Alex Palou led the way from pole, but it was Pato O’Ward and steamed to the front and took victory. He earned his second win of the year, all while, bizarrely, still being scored as the leader for the currently red-flagged first race of the weekend.
Scott McLaughlin was second across the line, followed by David Malukas to give Chevy a podium lockout over Honda.

Kyle Kirkwood came storming through the field from 24th to earn sixth, just behind Palou across the line. Kirkwood’s championship hopes remain slim, but they still exist.
Josef Newgarden brought out of the day’s caution’s spinning on his own and crashing into the wall while running in fifth position. It is feast or famine for Newgarden on ovals this year.
The plan is for drivers to get back on track just a couple hours after the conclusion of this event, so the first race of the weekend can be completed.
