UPDATE 3: The remainder of the race has been postponed to Sunday morning at 8:00 AM CT.
UPDATE 2: A red flag has been displayed after 90 laps complete as rain has returned to the speedway.
UPDATE 1: Cars have returned to the grid and the series will attempt to start the race at 2:30 central time.
The first race of IndyCar’s double-header weekend from the Milwaukee Mile is on hold due to rain.
A small storm system slowly moved into the area in the afternoon, and began affecting the race track just after the National Anthem was sung.
Drivers did not climb into their cars, but instead went back to their haulers to wait out the light shower.
Cars were towed back to the paddock but remained ready to return to the grid because the radar shows that this initial shower should be brief. More rain is in the area, however.
IndyCar plans to get as much of the race in as possible today, with tomorrow’s race currently unaffected and scheduled to take place at noon central time.
Earlier in the season, IndyCar was forced to run its race from Nashville Superspeedway on Monday rather than Sunday after the World Cup finale.
It is not yet known if the first race from Milwaukee will be pushed to Sunday or if it will be able to be run later in the day on Saturday.
