Ed Carpenter Racing has announced a contract extension for Christian Rasmussen.

The Danish driver joined IndyCar in 2024 after winning the IndyNXT championship the year prior.

Rasmussen ran a part time schedule his rookie season, then transitioned to a full time role for the past two years.

He has earned one win, which came in Milwaukee last season, and has generally been a standout performer on oval events.

Last season, Rasmussen earned six top ten finishes and was only outside the top ten for one of the season’s six oval events.

The 25-year-old has been with ECR for his entire IndyCar tenure, and has now secured an extension to stay with the team for multiple years into the future.

“I’m excited to extend my partnership with ECR for 2027 and beyond. I’ve enjoyed my time with the team so far and believe in the future of ECR,” said Rasmussen.

“We have undergone a lot of changes over the last couple years, and it has been a privilege to witness them firsthand, and to play a part in them. I’m confident that together we will continue to take ECR to its fullest potential.”

The 2026 season has been a frustrating one for Rasmussen, and he sits 24th in the points standings with no top 10 finishes to his name thus far.

ECR as a whole has struggled in recent events, however, and Rasmussen’s poor results this year have not entirely been a reflection of his own performance.

The back half of the IndyCar season is loaded with more short ovals, including this weekend’s event at World Wide Technology Raceway, which may give him a chance to get back on form.

Regardless, his future with ECR is secure and he does not have to worry about keeping his spot in the #21 entry.
