Johann Zarco remains sidelined from MotoGP action, but the French rider says his leg is healing quickly following his Catalunya crash.
Zarco has now been out of action for the last two weeks, following on from his Turn 1 crash during the Grand Prix of Catalunya.
It was at the first corner after the race was restarted following the incident involving Pedro Acosta, Alex Marquez, and Fabio Di Giannantonio, when Zarco, Luca Marini, and Francesco Bagnaia collided in a dramatic incident.
The Italian riders walked away from the incident unscathed, but the Frenchman suffered major injuries after his leg was caught in Bagnaia’s Ducati.
During the incident, Zarco sustained a series of injuries to the ligaments in his knee and fibula, along with a deep wound and burns below the knee.
The LCR Honda rider has not been able to undergo surgery since the incident due to the burns, but has revealed on social media that he has made progress since his crash.
“Two weeks now since the scary crash at Montmelo,” Zarco said on his own social media.
“I am taking care of my leg, and it is improving quite quickly. I need to wait for surgery, because I got burnt very deeply below the knee, and I can’t risk to have an infection during surgery.
“Thanks to everyone writing to me and wishing me the best recovery. I am lucky to have great people around me, and we are going to do things in a clever way. By the way, whipped cream helps a lot sometimes.”
The Frenchman was replaced for the Grand Prix of Italy at Mugello by former LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow, who returned to MotoGP for the first time since 2023.
The British rider will continue to replace Zarco at LCR Honda for the upcoming Grand Prix of Hungary at Balaton Park.
