DTM has completed its 2020 calendar with the addition of Russia, which fills a vacant spot on the previously announced schedule.
Last week DTM announced an expanded calendar with ten rounds, including visits to Monza and Anderstorp, whilst round three had yet to be confirmed.
It turns out this will be filled by a round in Russia at the new Igora circuit located 50 miles north of St. Petersburg – Russia's second largest city besides the capital, Moscow.
It will be the first international event to be held at the new facility, which held its grand opening this week, which was attended by ITR managing director Achim Kostron and drivers René Rast, Philipp Eng and Daniel Juncadella.
"We are very happy to have brought the DTM back to Russia after a two-year absence," commented Kostron. "The Igora Park is a hugely impressive facility, capable of hosting world-class, international motorsport.
"The track configuration looks set to provide thrilling racing, which will impress spectators in the grandsstands as much as the fans watching on their TVs when we visit next May."
The new 4.086 km circuit, which is located within a large holiday resort, has been designed by world-famous track designer Hermann Tilke and features 14 corners, a motocross and rallycross course, a driver safety centre and a kart circuit.
