Team Suzuki Ecstar rider Joan Mir has been diagnosed with a pulmonary contusion after he suffered a high-speed crash during Monday's Brno test.
Mir fell at Turn 1 towards the end of the session, hitting the airfence at almost 186mph (300km/h). The session was immediately red flagged as the marshals attended to the Spaniard. He was then taken to the circuit's medical centre before being transferred by helicopter to a local hospital.
The 2017 Moto3 champion was diagnosed with a pulmonary contusion and will remain in hospital overnight to monitor his condition. He escaped serious injury and is expected to be fit to participate in this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring.
"The crash was a scary one, but finally it looks like everything is more or less OK," said Mir.
"I had some pain and struggled to breathe initially, but then the situation got better and better and I received excellent assistance and support from the medics at the track.
"It will take a couple of days to recover, I need to take it easy and take my time, but at the moment I feel relieved that everything is OK, and I hope I will be 100% ready to race in Austria in just a few days."
Team manager, Davide Brivio, added: "Joan crashed at the end of the test, which unfortunately means that the day wasn’t all positive. Up until then we were going well and checking lots of different items.
"Joan tested the new aero package and we received positive feedback from him, so I think we’ll be using it again in the coming races."
