Formula E is working to expand its calendar ahead of next season. The Gen4 cars, the biggest innovation in the electric championship in recent years, are expected to debut on the track at the end of 2026. Season 13 will be one of the most crucial editions for Formula E.

Season 12, currently underway, has 17 races scheduled, which will be held in 11 different locations. It’s already a record number for FE. The 2025-2026 season calendar brought some struggles for Formula E. The championship didn’t make it official until a few weeks before the start of the season. To avoid this problem, the championship leaders are moving well in advance.

According to leaks, Formula E plans to submit the calendar to the FIA in March. It would be a month before unveiling the highly anticipated Gen4 car to the public. Alberto Longo, Formula E’s chief championship, revealed to Autosport that Formula E expects to have a calendar with “18 or 19 races, which would mean between 12 and 13 venues”.

Electric Championship CEO Jeff Dodds said Formula E would like to be able to draw up a 22-race calendar by 2030. “I think it’s about the right number for us,” Dodds told Autosport.

Formula E wants another round in the USA

The next addition to the Formula E calendar would appear to be a double round in America. Season 12 saw the debut of the Miami Autodrome, which is scheduled to return in 2026-2027. Next season, however, the public could see another race on US soil. In fact, Longo revealed to Autosport that it is very likely that this will happen and that negotiations are well underway.

However, the location that could host a Formula E race has not yet been revealed. Furthermore, it is not a given that it will be a street circuit. The electric championship is also expanding towards permanent tracks. A double race in the United States would be crucial to the growth of Formula E, which only held a double round in the USA for the first season, when it had raced in both Miami and Long Beach.
