Mattia Pasini will join Tasca Racing for the remaining ten races of the 2019 Moto2 season, replacing countryman Simone Corsi at the Italian squad from the next round at Brno.

Tasca decided to split with Corsi, who has nine Moto2 rostrums to his name, following a tough first half of the season for the Roman, a single top ten finish with eighth in the North American round at the Circuit of the Americas coming as the highlight.

Corsi has scored just once aside from this, a 14th place result coming in the Catalan GP at the Barcelona de Catalunya circuit, leaving him down in 21st in the riders standings with ten points. He also competed with the team last season, finishing 14th overall with four top ten’s.

Pasini meanwhile will compete with his fourth different team of 2019 after losing his Italtrans ride at the conclusion of the 2018 season, effectively becoming a super-sub for injured riders up and down the paddock.

He competed with the Pons squad at COTA-taking a fine fourth in his first race with the new Triumph-powered Moto2 machine replacing Augusto Fernandez- while he replaced Jake Dixon at Angel Nieto for the Jerez round.

He then signed a deal with the Petronas SRT squad to replace Khairul-Idham Pawi until the Malaysian recovered, completing two races at Le Mans and Mugello respectively.

He scored an 11th place result at the latter round before suffering an injury of his own, paving the way for Jonas Folger to make his racing return.

“I am delighted to be able to run this second part of the season with Tasca Racing. The goal will be to finish in the top 5 at the next races,” said Pasini.

Tasca Racing team principle Enrico Tasco added;  “Changing the rider was not an easy decision. I would like to thank Simone for these two years together. But I am also delighted that a rider like Mattia joins us to finish this season, which can still bring us satisfaction.”
