Monster Energy Yamaha has unveiled the newest edition of its M1 machinery in Jakarta ahead of a crucial 2026 MotoGP season.
The Japanese manufacturer suffered its worst campaign in MotoGP in the 2025 season, failing to win a single race and earning just one podium courtesy of Fabio Quartararo’s second place in Jerez.
Rumours have circulated about Quartararo’s future, but he remains under contract until the end of the current campaign, though Yamaha must impress the Frenchman if they are to keep him beyond this season.
Alex Rins will also be looking to impress after a difficult two seasons as a factory Yamaha rider, with the Spaniard also finding himself out of contract at the end of the campaign.
Rins has struggled with injuries and a lack of competitive results during his time with the Japanese marque, which has made him vulnerable should his form persist.
One of the changes Yamaha has made for the upcoming campaign is the switch from the inline-four engine to the V4 engine, which it hopes will bring more power and performance in a bid to return to the front of the grid.
