The ABB FIA Formula E Championship has unveiled the circuit for the Seoul E-Prix which will make its calendar debut next season.

The circuit, based in the South Korean capital, features 19 corners and is 2.8km-long, running through the city's Olympic Park – home of the 1988 Summer Olympic Games – while also running through the former Olympic stadium which will feature seven corners.

“I’m so excited to be coming to Korea and the streets of Seoul for the first time with the ABB FIA Formula E Championship next season," said Alejandro Agag, founder of Formula E.

"Seoul is such a vibrant and versatile city with sporting heritage and experience in hosting international events.

"Formula E will be showcasing speed and performance at the former Olympic venue, using a unique track with a spectacular stadium section."

The inaugural Seoul E-Prix will take place on May 3, 2020, and currently clashes with the penultimate round of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship – the Six Hours of Spa, with this impacting a number of drivers on the grid while the E-Prix will mark South Korea's first major motorsport event since the 2013 South Korean Grand Prix at Yeongam.

An exciting circuit for the #SeoulEPrix, featuring 17 turns, seven of which will be in the former Olympic Park (now the Jamsil Sports Complex) which was home to the 1988 Summer Olympic Games.

“In addition to aiming the Formula E event in Korea by introducing eco-friendly automotive technology through a futuristic competition, this year’s event will also contribute the development of the domestic automotive industry by minimising environmental damage such as air pollution, and position the championship as the next-generation racing event,” added Hee-Beom Lee, Chairman of Seoul E-Prix 2020 Racing Event Management.

Formula E's sixth season of competition will commence on November 22 in Ad Diriyah and will be made up of 14 races, coming to a close on the weekend of July 25 and 26 when the series returns to London for the first time since Season 2.

The series' present campaign will come to a close this month on July 13 and 14 in New York City where DS Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne stands a chance of making history in the championship by becoming its first double champion.
