Sebastien Buemi has said that Nissan e.dams is not used to the pace that it displayed in qualifying for the Berlin E-Prix, hailing his performance in Super Pole that saw him top the timesheets.

At the Flughafen Tempelhof Circuit, Buemi secured his first pole position on merit since the 2018 New York City E-Prix where the Swiss racer delivered the then powered Renault e.dams squad with a pair of poles at the final two races of Season 4.

In Berlin, Buemi ended the group qualifying stages as the second-fastest driver, trailing HWA Racelab's Stoffel Vandoorne by 0.006s after completing his initial qualifying run in Group Three.

As the penultimate runner in Super Pole, Buemi eclipsed the lap time of Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler's Lucas di Grassi who previously held provisional pole position, outpacing the Brazilian racer by 0.424s.

Running wide in Turn 1 on his final 250kW run of qualifying, Vandoorne spoiled his Super Pole run, trailing the Season 2 champion in all three sectors on his way to the second-fastest time in qualifying.

"I’m really happy," said Buemi when talking to Motorsport Week after qualifying.

"First of all, I’m happy with the job I did because I didn’t do any mistakes. I’m really happy!”

Reflecting on his pace, outpacing long-term rival di Grassi by over four tenths, Buemi stated that he wasn't used to the pace that he experienced behind the wheel of the Nissan IM01 and expressed his desire for a dry and straightforward race in the German capital as he aims to end his winless streak in Formula E that currently stands at 23 races:

"We’re not used to that. I hope it’s not going to rain. To have a normal race would be nice. To be able to score a few points would be nice.”

The Berlin E-Prix will take place later on today at 13:00 local time and will mark the 10th race of Formula E's fifth season of competition.
