Alex Marquez eased to his first Moto2 win in over a year, while championship leader Lorenzo Baldassarri crashed out of the French Grand Prix.
Marc VDS's Marquez seized the lead early on, and was handed a comfortable advantage at mid distance courtesy of a crash for Simone Corsi to cruise to his first victory since the 2017 Japanese Grand Prix.
Tom Luthi took the lead into the first corner from second on the grid, with Marquez heading Marc VDS team-mate Xavi Vierge in second.
Championship leader Baldassarri was running in sixth at the end of the first lap, but crashed out at Turn 11 on the second tour, and was collected by the chasing Petronas Sprinta stand-in Mattia Pasini.
Marquez passed Luthi for the lead with a brave move up the inside of the fast right of Turn 2, with Vierge quickly following his team-mate through on the Intact GP rider.
Luthi continued to fade, as Simone Corsi rose from 20th on his Tasca Racing Kalex to take third on lap six, with Luthi soon dropping to seventh.
By lap eight, Corsi had found himself in second and had cut Marquez's lead down to just four tenths. However, his charge ended on the 10th tour when he fell at the penultimate corner.
Marquez was released into a 1.8s lead as a result, and kept that gap constant over the final laps despite a late surge in laptimes from the chasing Augusto Fernandez and poleman Jorge Navarro to ease to his first win of the season.
Fernandez and Navarro locked horns over second in the closing stages, but it was the latter on the Speed Up chassis who prevailed for his third-successive rostrum.
Brad Binder took his best result of the year in fourth on the Ajo KTM, with Vierge heading Luthi and leading rookie Enea Bastianini (Italtrans).
Iker Lecuona made it two KTM chassis in the top 10, as the American Team rider crossed the line in ninth ahead of VR46's Nicolo Bulega, who survived a fast trip through the gravel at Turn 2 in the latter stages.
Despite his tumble, Baldassarri held onto the championship lead, though now sits just seven points clear of Luthi heading to his home race at Mugello, with Navarro and Marquez 11 and 14 points adrift.
