Dan Ticktum took top spot on Day 2 of Formula E pre-season testing

Dan Ticktum ended the second day of Formula E pre-season testing in Valencia top of the timesheets, with a time of 1:21.746s.

As the session began, Edoardo Mortara took the fastest lap in the session, as the drivers across the grid settled into their run plans for the day.

However, an hour into the session, Pascal Wehrlein reclaimed his top spot, the Porsche driver making the most of the limited running over the coming days of testing.

Further down the grid, the rookies all got consistent times on the board, with Pepe Marti making a significant step up alongside Dan Ticktum.

Ticktum admitted that yesterday hadn’t gone the way they wanted, the car not feeling as comfortable as he would have liked.

However, the Briton moved into sixth in the morning session with a time of 1:21.933s, an impressive jump from his 1:24s time on the first day.

In the final few minutes of the morning session, the yellow flags were waved after Oliver Rowland came to a stop at Turn 14.

The reigning FE champion suffered an issue with a bolt that snapped near the gearbox, leaving him to walk back to the pit lane.

Later on, the session began with all drivers having the opportunity to practice starts and run a short race simulation, testing out yellow flags, full course yellows and red flag procedures.

Marti damaged his front wing in the race practice and dove into the pits to replace it. Though it was just a practice run, the grid was getting enthusiastic with their racing around Valencia.

With an hour and a half left in the day, the practice race ended.

The teams returned to their testing plans. The majority of the grid opted for longer runs, while the Cupra Kiro’s put in some faster laps.

Ticktum shot to the top of the times with a 1:21.746s, and Marti wasn’t far behind with a 1:22.128s.

Meanwhile, Nico Muller showed his speed in his new Porsche colours, sitting second with a 1:21.927s.
