Honda rider Luca Marini recorded the fastest lap in the final MotoGP practice session in Malaysia.
The Italian posted a strong time of 1.58.415s with 10 minutes left on the clock to head into qualifying as the fastest rider.
VR46 Ducati’s Franco Morbidelli and factory Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia sealed second and third spot, respectively.
Joan Mir continued Honda’s strong showing to take fourth, as the Spaniard lapped 0.277s behind his team-mate.
Fabio Quartararo ended practice as the top Yamaha after lapping between Gresini duo Fermin Aldeguer and Alex Marquez.
In form Marco Bezzecchi finished as the reference Aprilia rider in eighth, ahead of Honda’s Johann Zarco and KTM’s Pedro Acosta.
Phillip Island’s race winner Raul Fernandez claimed 11th place for Trackhouse. Behind the Spaniard was Pramac Yamaha’s Miguel Oliveira, VR46 Ducati’s Fabio Di Giannantonio and team-mate Jack Miller down in 14th.
Rookie Ai Ogura ended the session in 16th, though KTM’s struggles were highlighted by Brad Binder, Pol Espargaro and Enea Bastianini finishing in 17th-19th.
Lorenzo Savadori took 19th on the Aprilia, finishing ahead of the final Yamaha rider, Alex Rins, who could only finish ahead of Somkiat Chantra, Augusto Fernandez and Michele Pirro.
