Despite crashing on his final run, VR46 Ducati rider Franco Morbidelli recorded the fastest time in the first MotoGP Misano practice.

The Italian rider posted a benchmark time of 1.31.342s, lapping two tenths quicker than Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo and team-mate Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Alex and Marc Marquez closely followed to finish first practice fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Luca Marini compiled together a strong lap time that saw him finish as the clear fastest Honda rider in sixth.

Pedro Acosta finished as KTM’s top rider in seventh, followed by hometown hero Marco Bezzecchi on the Aprilia.

Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez finished ninth as factory rider Jorge Martin closed out the top 10, lapping 0.5s slower than the VR46 Ducati.

Francesco Bagnaia’s struggles continued as he lapped 11th fastest, with the second Honda rider of Joan Mir finishing 12th.

Pramac Yamaha’s Jack Miller secured 13th spot ahead of team-mate Miguel Oliveira, bettering last year’s race winner Enea Bastianini.

Rookie Fermin Aldgeur finished 16th ahead of the Spanish duo of Maverick Vinales and Alex Rins.

Ai Ogura finished in 19th, 0.001s clear of the final KTM rider of Brad Binder.

Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez trialled its V4 engine for the first time, finishing 21st ahead of surprise name Johann Zarco.
