Sheldon van der Linde set the pace in the second free practice at the Circuit of the Americas for Lone Star Le Mans, the sixth round of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship.
The BMW driver, in the #20 BMW, set a 1:51.946 to quickest, almost half a second ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi in the #51 Ferrari.
Third fastest was the #009 Aston Martin Valkyrie, with Alex Riberas at the wheel, 0.050 off Giovinazzi.
In LMGT3, Sean Galael set the pace, in the #95 United Autosports McLaren, with a 2:06.545. He was less than a tenth up on Rahel Frey, onboard the #85 Iron Dames Porsche 911 GT3R. Third quickest was Giamarco Levorato in the #88 Ford Mustang GT3.
The session came to a premature end as the #81 TF Sport Corvette spun on track with three minutes remaining, which brought the red flag out – the fifth red flag of the weekend.
