IndyCar traveled to the West Coast for a round at the historic Laguna Seca, with Saturday’s qualifying taking place after the morning’s practice was cancelled due to fog grounding the medical helicopter.
Alex Palou continued his dominance at Laguna Seca, locking in his fifth pole of the season and setting himself up well for yet another strong run on Sunday.
Pato O’Ward was the closest challenger, but ended up on the outside of the front row. Colton Herta slotted into third.

Felix Rosenqvist was quick enough to make it into the Fast Six, but a mistake saw him spin into the gravel and he was penalized for causing a local yellow.
Scott McLaughlin very nearly joined his team-mates in the top half of the field, but a late run by Christian Rasmussen in the first round knocked him out. McLaughlin will start in 13th.
Drivers will take the track once more in the late afternoon, followed by Sunday’s race at noon pacific time.
