Antonio Felix da Costa set the pace in practice two ahead of qualifying for the Mexico City E-Prix, topping the timesheets for BMW i Andretti Motorsport.

Da Costa, who won the 2018/19 campaign's season opener in Ad Diriyah, set a best time of a 58.963s lap to break Daniel Abt's previous FP1 lap record of the Formula E layout of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit.

Throughout the session, names at the top of the timesheets swapped around, with DS Techeetah's Andre Lotterer initially setting the pace before being demoted by Sebastien Buemi while Mitch Evans, Jose Maria Lopez and Jerome d'Ambrosio all briefly held the fastest time in the 30-minute session.

Venturi Formula E's Felipe Massa emerged as da Costa's nearest challenger, with the former F1 ace trailing the Portuguese driver by only 0.175s after previously setting the slowest time in practice one.

Buemi emerged as the fastest Nissan e.dams driver in third while team-mate Oliver Rowland set the seventh fastest time, the pair being separated by d'Ambrosio, Sam Bird and Lopez who were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Panasonic Jaguar Racing's Nelson Piquet emerged as the fastest runner for the British marque in a second consecutive session, setting the eighth fastest time despite being one of a number of drivers who ran straight on at the circuit's tricky right-hand Turn 1.

Lucas di Grassi fronted a 9-10 in FP2 for Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler, with Abt, who topped FP1, completing the top 10.

Pascal Wehrlein was 11th fastest in the second Mahindra and was closely followed by reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne in 12th, with the Frenchman ending up 0.637s off the pace after stating that his DS E-Tense FE 19 was "so undrivable."

HWA Racelab's Stoffel Vandoorne was 13th and was followed by Robin Frijns, Tom Dillmann, Mitch Evans and Oliver Turvey who sustained suspension damage after clipping the tecpro barrier of the Turn 14 chicane.

Lotterer was 17th fastest in the second DS Techeetah car and was followed by GEOX Dragon debutant Felipe Nasr who was 1.192s off the pace.

Gary Paffett was 20th while Alexander Sims and Mortara rounded out the field of 22.
