Update: IndyCar has cancelled Friday’s activities. Saturday’s schedule has been updated to include practice, qualifying, and race 1 of the double-header.
A round of severe weather has delayed the first practice session for the NTT IndyCar Series as they visit Iowa Speedway.
27 drivers were scheduled to take to the track for the first time at 2:45 PM central time, but adverse weather moved in just before teams moved to the pit lane.
The storms built rapidly, and there was even an area of rotation nearby that led to a tornado warning being issued for the track.
As the tornado sirens sounded, the paddock watched the menacing clouds roll through.
The clouds gave way to a downpour a short time later, which forced everyone to take shelter and thoroughly soaked the racing surface.

There is not yet a plan for when track action will resume, but the storms are forecast to last for at least a few hours.
No sessions can be run in the rain because this weekend’s event is an oval, where the banking necessitates a completely dry track.
I like the efforts you have put in this, regards for all the great content.
