Formula 1's Max Verstappen has completed the second day of his public service punishment at an FIA International Stewards Programme in Geneva, Switzerland.

Verstappen was handed a two-day public service punishment for his role in the post-race debacle at the 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix where he got into a physical confrontation with former Force India driver, Esteban Ocon.

Both drivers had clashed in Turn 2 after Ocon had tried to un-lap himself against the Dutchman who had been leading the race at the time. After Verstappen was pitched round, it left Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton free to take the victory.

As part of his second day with the FIA, Verstappen took part in interactive case studies which involved considering on-track incidents, deliberating with the stewards and deciding appropriate penalties for such infractions.

The FIA believes such activities are in line with the educational approach the governing body of Formula 1 wishes to take when dealing with such matters.

In line with that approach, Verstappen's first day of his punishment was spent observing the stewards in January's Marrakesh E-Prix, studying how the stewards handled the events of the race in real time.

"We are doing our job on the track, trying to get the best out of the race, and it’s clear that the stewards are doing their job to find the best way to reach a fair decision," said Verstappen.

"It’s been a good lesson for me and I’ve learned a lot, both in my day in Marrakesh, which I really enjoyed and which gave me a good understanding of the stewards, and now here – I think it’s also good to be a part of this event."

The 21-year old also took part in the competitors’ panel discussion alongside three-time FIA World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx, WRC M-Sport team principal Richard Millener and BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt.

All parties discussed their own personal experiences regarding their own perspectives when it comes to stewarding across several disciplines.

The Dutchman and his new team-mate Pierre Gasly will be launching the new RB15 ahead of the new 2019 F1 season on February 13.
