Ed Carpenter Racing's Ed Jones is keen to prove himself at his new team after being let go by Chip Ganassi Racing at the end of 2018.

The British-Emirati driver was released by CGR in favour of the highly-rated Felix Rosenqvist after a season of mixed results. His best results of the season came in the form of two third-place finishes in Long Beach and the second race of the 'Dual in Detroit.

Jones' move to Ed Carpenter Racing is in his third team in three years in IndyCar and will see him fill in the seat vacated by Jordan King in the #20 car.

He will race at all 12 road and street courses and run the #64 entry at the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 with the team's joint venture with Scuderia Corsa.

Not willing to be fazed by yet another team move; Jones wants to continue to showcase his skills in a team who is capable of fighting at the front of the field.

"I’ve moved on. I’ve got a new opportunity," Jones told IndyCar.com. "It’s funny, everyone I spoke to in the paddock after that (Ganassi decision) was surprised I wasn’t staying on there for another year.

"Everyone knows that in motorsport there are a lot more situations than it seems from the first impression or from the outside. I’m used to that. Things happen in racing.

"The most important thing is I’m racing again with Carpenter and Scuderia, and I’m going to have a fast car and another chance to get some great results.

"For me, I know I’m capable of winning races and being at the front. I’ve already shown that on quite a few occasions.

Commenting on his time at Chip Ganassi Racing, the 2016 Indy Lights champion was honest with his own performances. While admitting it was a tough season; he isn't prepared to change the way he goes racing.

"I did everything I could, I put in as much effort as I could. I held up every side of my bargain and did what I thought was to the best of my abilities.

"For one reason or another, things didn’t work out. But I don’t feel like I should be changing my approach.

"It’s worked in the past and I’m sure it will work again in the future. I’ve shown how fast I can be and I’ve shown how good I can be in races."
