World Endurance Championship team G-Drive Racing has confirmed that reigning FIA Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne will return to the squad next year.
Vergne, who currently races for Techeetah in Formula E, signed a new deal with G-Drive for 2019 which will see him partner Roman Rusinov. A third driver is set to be announced at a later date.
The Frenchman helped the Russian team to the European Le Mans Series victory and crossed the line first at this year's Le Mans 24 Hours, winning the LMP2 class, before later being disqualified over an illegally modified fuelling rig.
"Very excited to be continuing my story with G-Drive Racing in 2019! It’s going to be a busy year," he wrote on social media.
G-Drive recently tested its Oreca 07 Gibson at the Sebring International Raceway with Gary Findlay and Job van Uitert taking turns behind the wheel.
The outfit has yet to confirm its full schedule with selected WEC events and a possible ELMS campaign on the cards, therefore it's not known how many events will clash with Vergne's Formula E commitments, though the opening two ELMS rounds clash with the Rome EPrix and Monaco EPrix.
