Anthoine Hubert has claimed the GP3 title over ART team-mate Nikita Mazepin after a thrilling sprint race around the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.

After stating on pole position Mazepin had a scruffy start and immediately moved to chop second place Leonardo Pulcini, the Italian driver swiftly fought back in the opening laps to eventually secure the race lead.

As Mazepin attempted to try and get back past the Campos of Pulcini he out-braked himself into Turn 11 and ran wide, he came back onto the circuit over the kerb on Turn 13 and was subsequently handed a 10-second time penalty for failing to go to the right of the bollard at Turn 13, effectively handing Hubert the title in the process.

Hubert kept himself out of trouble for the entirety of the 18 lap race, forcing Mazepin to go on the offensive and ensure he claimed the title honours finishing third behind Trident's David Beckmann who passed the Frenchman on the final lap.

Ferrari-backed Callum Ilott battled hard with his rivals including compatriot and ART team-mate Jake Hughes as the pair went wheel-to-wheel in the final laps of the race, crossing the line in fourth place.

Mazepin after taking his 10-second penalty ended the race in fifth place, losing out on the title to Hubert.

Trident's Giuliano Alesi had a late charge through the midfield and passed Hughes on the penultimate lap, the pair finished sixth and seventh respectively.

Juan Manuel Correa managed to get a solid first lap under his belt as the American made up three places on the opening lap, however, the Jenzer driver struggled to make any further gains and spent the majority of the race battling with Finland's Simo Laaksonen in the Campos.

Tatiana Calderon buoyed by the confidence of her recent Formula 1 outings for Sauber continued her tradition of making late race passes to claim the final point in tenth place.

Stewards showed consistency over drivers running wide as MP Motorsport's Jehan Daruvala also received the same 10-second penalty as Mazepin during the race for the same offence, the Indian driver finished 19th on his GP3 debut.
