Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was reserved for a race around the 2.44-mile interior road course.
Alex Palou was absolutely unstoppable late in the race, and he pulled away from everyone else to claim his fourth win out of five races this season.
Pato O’Ward and Will Power rounded out the podium, and while both were quick and made few mistakes they both had nothing for the reigning series champion up the road.

Graham Rahal gave it a valiant effort and led over half of the race, but with 25 laps remaining he started slipping down the order. He ended the day in a disappointing sixth place.
On the other hand, Scott Dixon moved forward for the second race running. The veteran climbed from 16th up to fifth and he will likely be focusing on his qualifying form going forward.
Incidentally, IndyCar’s lengthy green flag run finally came to an end when David Malukas pulled aside late in the race. The previous time there was a yellow flag was early in the season opening race in St. Petersburg, and there were 408 consecutive green flag laps run in the four events since then.
The IndyCar paddock is collectively done thinking about road courses for a while now, as the two week event that is the Indianapolis 500 gets underway in earnest on Tuesday with opening practice.
