Alex Marquez completed Friday topping the charts in both MotoGP practice sessions ahead of this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.

The Spaniard showed grit to top the charts, having suffered a fast crash at Turn 5 earlier in the session, which resulted in a brief pause due to the re-deployment of the air fence.

The Gresini rider posted the best lap time right at the end of the session, posting a 1.35.991s, a new lap record.

Francesco Bagnaia finished the session as his nearest challenger, completing a lap time one tenth off his rival.

MotoGP newcomer Fermin Aldeguer claimed sixth place for Gresini Racing, finishing ahead of Hondas Johann Zarco and KTM sensation Pedro Acosta.

Fabio Di Giannantonio ensured all six Ducati bikes made it to Q2, as Joan Mir completed the top ten seedings.

Brad Binder narrowly missed out but finished the session in 11th for the factory KTM outfit.

Marco Bezzecchi finished as Aprilia’s lead rider once again, bettering the lap time of Pramac Yamahas Jack Miller and former Aprilia rider Maverick Vinales.

Alex Rins crafted together 15th place despite battling illness, followed by Trackhouse Racing duo Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura.

Luca Marini endured a tough day as he finished 18th for Honda HRC, followed closely by Enea Bastianini.

Yamaha and Honda test riders Augusto Fernandez and Aleix Espargaro finished 20th and 21st, respectively, ahead of Lorenzo Savadori and Somkait Chantra.
