Marc Marquez eased to MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix victory to secure the constructors' title for Honda after long-time leader Valentino Rossi crashed late on.
Yamaha's Rossi hit the front at the start and was resisting late pressure from Marquez as he sought to end his 27-race win drought when he crashed at Turn 1, releasing the Honda rider to ease to his 70th career win.
Rossi grabbed the holeshot from second on the grid, while poleman Johann Zarco recovered from a poor launch to shadow his Yamaha stablemate ahead of Pramac's Jack Miller.
Marquez recovered one spot from seventh at the start, making slight contact with Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa as the pair ran side-by-side through Turn 3, with the world champion surviving a moment on the rear at the final turn at the end of the first lap.
Suzuki's Andrea Iannone was following Marquez when he had his moment, and crashed in reaction to the Honda rider's error.
Marquez carved his way through on Miller to take third at the end of the second lap, with Zarco falling victim to the charging Spaniard on the fifth tour when the Tech3 rider ran wide at Turn 14.
This allowed Rossi to open up a lead of seven tenths, which he duly opened up to over a second as the race dipped into the halfway stage.
Marquez had Zarco at close proximity for some time, but broke away late on to chase down race leader Rossi, reducing the Yamaha rider's gap to eight tenths with six laps remaining.
Rossi responded and kept his lead hovering around that margin, though Marquez dug deep and closed the gap to six tenths as the pair crossed with four laps remaining.
However, Rossi's race last just a few more seconds as he crashed going through the opening corner, releasing Marquez to cruise to his ninth win of the season to edge closer to Honda's triple crown.
Suzuki's Alex Rins made a late move on Zarco to secure second ahead of the Frenchman, while Maverick Vinales recovered to fourth after a wet qualifying left him 11th on the grid.
Dani Pedrosa completed the top five on the sister works Honda to tally up his best result since Aragon, with Andrea Dovizioso a distant sixth on the first of the Ducatis across the line.
Alvaro Bautista was seventh on his return to Nieto on the GP17, with Pramac duo Miller and Danilo Petrucci following him, while home hero Hafizh Syahrin completed the top 10 after starting last.
The final points were taken by Aleix Espargaro on the Aprilia, Marc VDS' Franco Morbidelli, LCR stand-in Stefan Bradl, his teammate Takaaki Nakagami and KTM's Bradley Smith.
Smith's teammate Pol Espargaro retired with a technical issue, as did Nieto's Karel Abraham, while Michele Pirro ended his ride in place of the injured Jorge Lorenzo in the Turn 15 gravel trap.
