AIX Racing’s Joshua Durksen has been disqualified from the Formula 2 Sprint Race in Bahrain after finishing in third place.

The Paraguayan racing driver was investigated by the race stewards afterwards for a breach of the regulations.

A document released by the FIA stated that: “Having considered the matter extensively, the Stewards determined that the height of the Diffusor Strake 1 of Car 20 was found to be below the required minimum height stipulated in Article 3.4.1.a of the FIA Formula 2 Technical Regulations.

“Specifically, even after the 5mm tolerance defined in Article 3.4.2 is applied, the Diffusor Strake 1 is 2mm below the limit.

“The measurement was conducted by the Technical Delegate using the standard method.

“The measurement was taken on multiple occasions for verification and the FIA platform was also checked to be in correct set up.

“The team representative accepted the measurement and the condition of the platform when this measurement was taken.”

Durksen started the race from reverse-grid pole and led the first half of the Sprint from Dino Beganovic in the Hitech.

However, Durksen was stunned by the rapid rise of Campos Racing driver Pepe Marti, who stormed through the field to snatch victory from the 21-year-old.

With the disqualification, Beganovic has been promoted to third place and inherits a podium finish in the Sprint Race.

MP Motorsport racing driver Oliver Goethe moves up to fourth place, Arvid Lindblad takes fifth for Campos, Rafael Villagomez sixth in the Van Amersfoort Racing car.

Gabrielle Mini moves up to seventh for Prema Racing and Leonardo Fornaroli takes the final point in the top eight in the Invicta Racing car.

The rest of the classified finishers all move up one position.
