The FIA has fined Hispania $20,000 following an incident which took place in the pitlane during the Italian GP.
A Hispania mechanic was knocked over by the rear wheel of Sakon Yamamoto as he left his pit-box. It’s thought the mechanic was working on the radio connection behind Yamamoto at the time, however, this went unnoticed by the lollipop man who gave the all clear for the Japanese driver to exit.
The mechanic in question was injured in the incident to which an ambulance was in attendance. He was taken to the medical centre for routine checks and isn’t thought to be seriously harmed.
The FIA cited ‘unsafe release’ as the reason for the fine.
