Dane Cameron is back on top of the scoring charts after final practice with a weekend topping time of 1:32.975 Saturday at Watkins Glen International.
The #6 Team Penske Acura DPi piloted by Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya topped two practices across the weekend, and will be heavy favourites to claim the pole Saturday afternoon for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.
JDC-Miller Motorsports, just days after admitting they are exploring DPi options to compete in 2019, posted the second fastest lap of the session. In the team’s ORECA LMP2, Simon Trummer posted a fastest lap just 0.162 behind the Penske DPi.
LMP2 remained strong at the top of the leaderboard across all three practices, with Friday’s chart-topping team CORE autosport third fastest in final practice with Colin Braun at the helm. As Paul Di Resta was just behind them with United Autosports, three of the top five times were posted by LMP2s.
The Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi of Wayne Taylor Racing, maintaining the second fastest times across both of Friday’s sessions, fell back to 15th fastest Saturday morning. The Mustang Sampling Racing Cadillac, though leading the championship, sat at the bottom of Prototype times.
It was a complete weekend practice sweep for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing in GTLM, as they claimed the top two spots across all sessions. Antonio Garcia’s Corvette split up the Porches in P4, but the dual Fords will remain the team to watch across qualifying.
3GT Racing, like Team Penske, topped the first and final practices in GTD. Their #14 Lexus piloted by Kyle Marcelli marked the fastest time, with the #15 of Jack Hawksworth close behind. Championship-leading Paul Miller Racing marked their fastest run of the weekend, as Madison Snow posted the 8th fastest time.
With all practice sessions complete, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship qualifying for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen begins at 11:25 a.m. ET.
