Techeetah could face a "curve ball" at this weekend's inaugural Zurich E-Prix according to team principal Mark Preston as Formula E gears up for the first circuit race to be held in Switzerland in 64 years.
With three races remaining in Season Four, Techeetah continue to defy and exceed expectations, leading both the Drivers' and Teams' Championship despite being the only independent outfit on the current Formula E grid.
At last month's Berlin E-Prix, Techeetah predicted a tough weekend in the German capital due to the abrasive nature of the Flughafen Tempelhof circuit and the lack of testing that teams with an independent status have. These problems did not materialise, however, with the team securing a double points finish, fronted by a podium from Jean-Eric Vergne.
"Our drivers are on good form at the moment and both did a fantastic job in Berlin, our rookie André [Lotterer] managed to get from P20 to P9 and Jean-Éric [Vergne] secured another podium," said Preston.
"Berlin was Jean-Éric's fifth podium and super pole outing of the season and it just goes to show what a good place he is in right now. André is really going from strength to strength in his first Formula E season and I believe that we have the best driver combination on the grid.
"We're all looking forward to racing in Zurich for the first time," he continued. "It's a stunning location Formula E and the city have chosen, right by the harbour front.
"We've done well in the past on new tracks, but you never know what curve balls might be thrown at you at a new track too, so let's see."
After an impressive campaign, Jean-Eric Vergne heads to Switzerland with a 40 point lead over Sam Bird in the Drivers' Championship and with three races remaining in the present 2017/18 season, the Frenchman could wrap up the title in Zurich.
"This season has flown by, and with only three races left of Season Four we head to Switzerland and the last European leg for the home stretch now," said Vergne.
"Nevertheless, we will approach the Zurich E-Prix exactly the same way we've approached all the other races this season; sim prep, procedures review and not leaving any stones unturned to find the optimal set up.
"We have worked incredibly hard to get here and we will keep doing so to stay where we are. We will continue in the same fashion for the rest of the season and we're not taking anything for granted,"
As Formula E begins to wind down for another season, the battle is still on in the Teams' Championship as the resurgent Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler outfit, through the services of Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt, begin to close in on Techeetah who currently have a 44 point lead with 87 points still on offer.
"With only three races left of the season we're focusing on getting as many points as possible for the team championship. We have a lead of 44 points going into Zurich and the goal is to extend that ahead of the final two rounds in New York City," concluded Lotterer.
