Honda has confirmed Dani Pedrosa will attempt to ride in this weekend's third round of the MotoGP season in Texas, following successful surgery on a broken wrist last week.
Pedrosa suffered a fracture to his right radius when he was forced wide by a hard-charging Johann Zarco and highsided at Turn 13 on the opening lap of the Argentine Grand Prix.
The Honda rider underwent an operation in Barcelona on the Tuesday following the race, and his since enjoyed an encouraging rehabilitation period.
Still unsure if he will be able to actually start the race at the Circuit of the Americas, Pedrosa felt the improvement in his conditions has made it “well worth it to travel and try".
He said: “Since the operation, I started feeling a bit better every day. I’ve been doing exercises to gain mobility and reduce the inflammation.
“Little by little I'm recovering muscle tone, and this allows me to see some progress. From here it’s difficult to know our real possibilities.
“We’re going to a difficult track and until I’m back on my bike I won’t be able to really know my situation.
“But what’s clear to me at this moment is that it’s well worth it to travel and try.
“An important part of my strength to go to Austin comes from your messages of support, so thank you very much to all of you.”
Pedrosa's non-finish in Argentina and low-key seventh in the season-opening Qatar race have left him 12th in the championship on nine points, 31 adrift of Honda stablemate Cal Crutchlow at the top of the standings.
